I like the fact that Wikis are quick and easy to set up and can be used in so many ways. In Kindergarten, we could use a wiki to create a grade level add on poem or story. We could also publish individual student poetry and make a page for each Kindergarten class. A grade level Earth Day project could involve setting up a wiki with 3 pages (reduce, recycle, reuse) and ideas for each could be added to the page. A wiki could also be set up to coordinate our grade level events such as our Kindergarten Rodeo Day. Supply lists, parent volunteers and station maps could all be coordinated and edited easily. We could also create a resource page for Literacy Station ideas and websites.
Wow! I better get to work on all these new ideas! :)
This is a great list of ideas...I bet you have some takers after you show them how easy it is !
ReplyDeleteYou have some great ideas for using a wiki. It never occured to me that you could use it with parents to inform them of classroom needs and or volunteer oppurtunities. Ideas for stations and websites is an awesome idea. At our school we have a math olympics for 3rd grade for right before the TAKS. We could have used this to mesh all our great ideas together to create the best lessons and activities and save time trying to all get together to meet. I love finding ways to save time and this definetly does. Thanks for the great ideas.
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the idea of setting up a wiki for parents. That would be an easy and efficient way to communicate with my parents of my students. I could post about family trainings, special olympics, and supply lists. Thanks for the idea. Now I may have to get to work too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing great list...
